It was the last day of our holiday down in Augusta. Before we packed up, I woke up early and drove out to see if I could capture a better image of the Leeuwin Lighthouse. On this trip, I explored the coast east of the lighthouse and found some interesting rocks that I used to frame my subject. There were three rocks or stone standing as if they were tombstone facing out to the ocean. For my first shot, I lined the lighthouse up as if it was the fourth stone, using no filters or polariser, I set my camera at f9 with 1/15 sec shutter speed. This caught the light nicely and the warm orange glow from the sunrise filled the scene. For the next few shots, I moved to the lighthouse was between the stones. Framing your subject with the objects in the environment can be effective to create an interesting composition. Plus you can share more about the environment or scene and hence tell a more interesting story. For the final images, I move down to the water's edge and used the coast as a leading line up to the lighthouse. I had the largest stone still on the right glowing with the morning sun. This anchored my images nicely.
